managing your township cemetery during this afternoon class led by MTA’s own
Cindy Dodge, a featured Michigan Association of Municipal Cemeteries conference
speaker. We’ll dig into legal obligations, fees and budgeting, the roles of
advisory committees, sextons and caretakers, elements of green or natural
burials and more!
Registration and lunch begins at noon, class is held from 1 to 5 p.m.
MTA's Township Cemetery Management book available at
a discounted rate
Participants can add MTA’s Township Cemetery Management book to their registration
for the discounted price of $34.50 (members only; non-members call for rates). This book offers a review of statutes that
govern township authority over cemeteries, along with the financial aspects of
this valuable service. Sample policies that can be customized for your
township’s use are included with purchase. Pre-ordered books will be
distributed onsite during check-in. A limited number will also be available to
Cancellations, substitution and switching policy: Written cancellation requests received at the MTA office
by May 23 will receive a full refund. In-person event “no shows” or those who
cancel after May 23 will be converted to online access. No refunds will be
issued after May 23 without extenuating circumstances. If space allows, you may
switch locations at no charge if you notify MTA at least one week prior to
class; otherwise, a $25/person fee will be assessed. You may substitute
another individual from your township without incurring a charge; please notify
MTA of the change.
