When vacancies occur, elections may need to be held to fill those vacancies, even when appointments have been made. If a vacancy occurs (or has already occurred) on or before April 16th for the following offices, it must be filled by election in 2018.
Those offices include:
- County officers
- County Auditors
- County Road Commissioners
- School Board Members
- Township officers
- Metropolitan District officers
- Court of Appeals Judges
- Circuit Judges
- Probate Judges
- District Judges.
The filing deadline for partisan candidates is Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 4 p.m. Candidates wishing to run without party affiliation have a filing deadline of July 19, 2018 at 4 p.m.
The deadline for school board candidates is July 24th at 4 p.m.
